Chapter 6: Transfer switch equipment – NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems 6.3: 6.3 Requirements for paralleled generator sets

Where two or more sets are paralleled the system must not connect loads that could damage the EPS; each transfer switch has continuous and interrupting ratings for its loads and withstands the available fault current; first priority loads go on the bus as soon as emergency power is available, further loads are added in priority as each set closes, and on loss of a set load is shed automatically from lowest priority upward so the highest priority load is last affected.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 5 controls across 3 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • 2.4.3 2.4.3 Synchronization with the network or other sets
  • 3.5-loads 3.5 Sets supplying safety and essential services: selective protection, no unintended paralleling, other loads
  • 9.57-9.60 Multi-set operation, synchronising time and load-dependent set control
  • 9.66-9.69 Load management of generators during prolonged outages

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
