A programmable timer exercises the EPS as Chapter 8 requires (not needed in health care facilities testing to NFPA 99), and during exercise the load returns to primary power if the EPS fails; each ATS has a test means that simulates primary failure and transfers load; and two labelled pilot lights or another approved indicator show switch position.
