Chapter 9: Secondary power centres and plant (standby generators) – NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition)

NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 9.55-9.56: Run and stop signals, simulate-mains-failure switches and alarm monitoring

The source of run and stop signals should be clear so the set runs automatically whenever mains fails at any point it is meant to supply. Where any switch for simulating a mains failure, and any push button for returning to mains, is placed should be decided for the whole system and the operator's needs. Maintenance and testing opportunities affect control requirements (redundant sets need sequencing controls; parallel operation lets tests run without loss of supply), and BMS monitoring of every generator alarm should be considered.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 2 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • 5.6.6 5.6.6 Remote controls, alarms and annunciation
  • 6.2.11-6.2.13 6.2.11 to 6.2.13 Exercise timer, test switch and position indication

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
