Chapter 8: Routine maintenance and operational testing – NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems 8.4.9: 8.4.9 Level 1 36-month test

Within every period of 36 months a Level 1 EPSS runs continuously for the duration of its class, which may stop after 4 continuous hours for longer classes. The test starts by operating at least one ATS test function and then all others, or by opening the normal supply to every ATS in the EPSS; other loads need not lose power. Minimum load is 30 percent of nameplate kW for diesels (load bank allowed) or the exhaust temperature load the maker recommends, and the available EPSS load for spark-ignited sets. It may be combined with a monthly test and the annual load bank test, in which case the last hour is at 75 percent or more of nameplate kW.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 3 controls across 2 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • 17.87-17.91 Annual 110% load engine condition test of at least three hours with safety chain tests
  • 17.90 Annual test of automatic transfer switchgear and island-mode tests where cover is below 100%

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
