Generator maintenance should test, once a year, any automatic switchgear transferring supply between PES and secondary supply. Where the secondary supply does not give the recommended 100% coverage, tests should include island-mode runs with the PES isolated, so staff learn the secondary supply's limits and exercise their contingency plans.
