Once installation is finished the owner or representative receives the as-built drawings and hydraulic calculations covering the piping, the calculations and the alarm arrangements, and the firm keeps its own set for the life of the system. Alterations and additions are legibly noted on updated plans given to the owner and kept by the firm for the life of the system; an alteration of twenty sprinklers or fewer in already-protected floor areas needs no updated plans, while anything larger does. All plans carry the RME's name and licence number and the firm's name, address, telephone number and certificate number; at least one set of as-built plans, and at least one set submitted to an authority for review, rating, permit or record, is signed in original and dated by the RME certifying compliance with the adopted NFPA standards, with the installation date and the firm's details in the prescribed stamp (the authority may waive the original signature on submitted sets).
