Texas State Fire Marshal Rules (28 TAC Chapter 34, Subchapters C, E, F and G) 34.710: Sprinkler contractors hold a certificate of registration of the right type, never subcontract to unregistered firms, post the certificate and report changes

What does 34.710 require?

Before doing business in Texas as an independent fire protection sprinkler contractor a person or organisation obtains a certificate of registration from the state fire marshal, and a registered firm may not subcontract any act of a sprinkler contractor to an unregistered firm. The firm keeps a specific physical business location shown on the certificate and posts the certificate conspicuously there. A total change of ownership voids the certificate, with a new application due 14 days before the change; a partial change affecting name, location or mailing address needs a revised certificate; officer changes are reported in writing within 14 days; lost certificates are replaced on written notice and fee; certificates are not transferable. Certificates are typed General (any sprinkler system work), Dwelling (one- and two-family dwelling systems) or Underground Fire Main (sales, installation, maintenance and service, but not planning, of underground piping that is part of a sprinkler system).
