A child safe entity implements and complies with the child safe standard in s 9(f): processes to respond to complaints and concerns are child-focused. The QFCC Guidelines (s 108), to which the entity must have regard (s 11(3)), set the key action areas: an accessible, child-focused complaint handling policy setting roles at each level and how complaints, policy breaches and code of conduct breaches are handled and reported; procedures for reporting to authorities whether or not the law requires it and cooperating with them; where appropriate, First Nations-led complaint mechanisms; investigations that do not retraumatise children; processes understood by children, families, staff and volunteers and culturally safe; and complaints taken seriously and answered promptly and thoroughly.
