A child safe entity implements and complies with the child safe standard in s 9(b): children are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously. The QFCC Guidelines (s 108), to which the entity must have regard (s 11(3)), set the key action areas: resources that let children understand all their rights including to safety, information and participation; recognising friendships and peer support; where relevant, age-appropriate access to sexual abuse prevention programs; and staff attuned to signs of harm who give children child-friendly ways to express views, take part in decisions and raise concerns.
