A child safe entity implements and complies with the child safe standard in s 9(a): child safety and wellbeing is embedded in the entity's organisational leadership, governance and culture. The QFCC Guidelines (s 108), to which the entity must have regard (s 11(3)), set the key action areas: a public commitment to children's safety and wellbeing; a child safe culture championed and modelled at all levels; governance that makes the Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy work throughout the organisation; a Code of Conduct setting expected behaviour for staff and volunteers; governance that places Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in leadership and decision-making roles; and risk management focused on preventing, identifying and mitigating risks to children.
