Cardboard flats and cartons must be heat sanitised before reuse for carrying or storing eggs, and plastic flats and fillers disinfected, unless they are being reused on the same premises or within the same network of premises as their last use, or are new from their packaging. Pallets used for eggs must be cleaned of visible organic matter after each use on the same terms, and stored in a clean area that is not, and could not become, rodent habitat.
