NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 8.31-8.36: Fire precautions and fire extinguishing in substations

Construction must meet Approved Document B and HTM 05-02 adjacencies, with fire risk assessed including electrical explosion and interference. Fire-extinguishing equipment should have audible and visual alarms; automatic systems should be fitted where internal transformers contain flammable fluid, designed by specialists; halon or CO2 systems should not be used for new installations and halon must be decommissioned in a controlled way. Dual-incomer substations may be split by a fire-rated wall.
