NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 5.43-5.52: Connection of new works to the DNO or the site network

The design team should apply to connect new works to the DNO or the site network only when the installation is safe and ready to energise. The DNO may test before connection and may refuse a non-compliant installation; where embedded generation (including CHP or PV) is included, the DNO needs to understand how internal sources clear faults. For connection to the site's own network, the organisation may test similarly, and its Authorised Person may refuse to support connection of an installation that is unsafe or compromises the distribution strategy.
