Chapter 15: Final circuits – NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition)

NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 15.98-15.103: Fire alarm, security, nurse call and blood bank alarms: tertiary supplies and failure alarms

An independent battery inverter supply should be provided for the fire alarm (autonomy to BS 5839-1), and fire alarm systems should be on the secondary supply, with devices the fire alarm controls that must keep working (door holders, smoke dampers, access-controlled doors) considered for secondary supply. Independent tertiary supplies should also serve security central control, nurse call main panels and blood bank alarms, with autonomy set by suppliers, and an alarm should be raised at the main control panel on failure of normal or tertiary power to these critical systems.
