NABERS - National Australian Built Environment Rating System CA-1: Enter a Commitment Agreement before claiming a design-stage NABERS target

What does CA-1 require?

Handbook chapter 1 and 2: a NABERS Energy Commitment Agreement is a contract with the National Administrator to design, build and commission premises to achieve at least 4 stars (at least 5 stars for office base buildings; for meeting the National Construction Code, 5.5 stars for office base buildings, 4 for apartments and hotels, 4.5 for shopping centres). It is the only basis, before a certified rating, for using the NABERS energy trade mark or advertising an expected star level. The contract, the Rules current at the date of agreement and Rulings prevail over the Handbook; ratings verifying the outcome are calculated without GreenPower or other off-site renewables and need at least 12 months of operation.
