When designing facilities, equipment, systems and processes that use energy, whether new, modified or renovated, and that could affect energy performance significantly across the operating life planned or expected for them, take into account the needs of operational control and the scope for better energy performance. Where applicable, carry the results into specification, design and purchasing work, and keep documented information on the design work that concerns energy performance.
