Australian Consumer Law (Competition and Consumer Act 2010 Schedule 2) s97: s 97 Lay-by termination charges only where the consumer terminates and capped at reasonable costs

The consumer may terminate a lay-by agreement any time before delivery. The supplier must ensure the agreement requires a termination charge only where the consumer terminates and the supplier has not breached the agreement, and that any charge does not exceed the supplier's reasonable costs in relation to the agreement.
