Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Work Environment and Facilities 2.7b: 2.7 Service ventilation systems, control Legionella risk and keep airborne contaminants below exposure standards

Air-conditioning and ventilation systems should be serviced and maintained to the manufacturer's instructions. Cooling towers can host Legionella bacteria and should be designed, installed and maintained to the relevant microbial control standard (the AS/NZS 3666 series). Under the WHS Regulations a PCBU must ensure no one is exposed to an airborne concentration of a substance above its exposure standard, which may require air monitoring, and work that releases lead fumes, acid mist or solvent vapour needs specific controls.
