Under WHS Regulation 40 a PCBU must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the layout lets people enter, leave and move safely in normal conditions and emergencies; work areas have space to work safely; floors and surfaces are designed, installed and maintained for safe work; lighting enables safe work, movement and emergency evacuation; ventilation allows work without risk to health; workers exposed to heat or cold can work without risk; and work on or near essential services (gas, electricity, water, sewerage, telecommunications) does not affect anyone's safety.
