Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace
Section 1: Duties, prohibited chemicals, exposure standards, register and manifest – Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace

Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace 1.6b: 1.6 Prepare and update a manifest when Schedule 11 quantities are exceeded (r 347)

A PCBU must prepare a manifest of Schedule 11 hazardous chemicals at the workplace. A manifest differs from a register: it is a written summary of specific types of hazardous chemicals with physical hazards, acute toxicity or skin corrosion, required only where quantities exceed prescribed thresholds, and its main purpose is to give emergency services information on the quantity, classification and location of chemicals, with site plans and emergency contacts. It must meet Schedule 12 and be updated as soon as practicable after any change to the amount or types of chemicals used, stored, handled or generated. The manifest quantity is the amount in Schedule 11, table 11.1, column 5 (Appendix D of the code).
