Part 4: Wages and allowances – Australia Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020 (MA000027)

Australia Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020 (MA000027) 16: Clause 16: pay Support Services minimum rates, pay point progression, junior and apprentice rates

The employer must pay Support Services employees at least the minimum rate for their level in clause 16.2 of the current award (consolidated to 1 October 2026, read 30 September 2026), with dental assistants (Levels 3, 5, 6, 7) and pathology collectors (Levels 5, 6, 7) paid the transitional rates in 16.2(b) and (c) until 31 December 2026 by qualification and experience, and retained rates under Schedule J for those classified on 31 March 2026. Progression to the next pay point is annual for full-time employees and after 1824 hours of similar experience for part-time and casual employees. Juniors receive the age percentages of the adult rate; cooking, dental technician and gardening apprentices the year-based percentages of Level 4; adult apprentices the greater of the floors in 16.7 with rate protection for existing employees. Apprentices must be released for training with pay (time counted as worked), reimbursed RTO fees and prescribed textbooks by the later of the listed dates unless progress is unsatisfactory (or the employer pays the RTO directly), paid excess reasonable travel costs for overnight block release (less government assistance received or advised in writing), and not required, except in an emergency, to work overtime or shiftwork that prevents training. A transitional pay equity order operates in Queensland.
