Where tools are broken into and taken while securely stored, as the employer directed, in a lock-up or in a room or building at the employer's premises, a job or a workshop, the employer must compensate the employee for them up to the maximum trade value in clause 18.5(b) of the current award (consolidated to 1 July 2026, read 30 September 2026). This does not apply if the employer asked the employee for a list of the tools kept on the job and none was supplied.
