Australia Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award 2020 (MA000025) 16.4a: 16.4(a) Pay junior apprentices the year-of-apprenticeship percentage and their allowances

Apprentices who are not adult apprentices are paid a percentage of the grade 5 electrical worker minimum rate by year of apprenticeship, using the table in clause 16.4(a)(i) of the current award (consolidated to 1 July 2026, read 30 September 2026) if they started before 1 January 2014, or the table in 16.4(a)(ii) (which differs for those who have and have not completed Year 12) if they started on or after that date. They also receive the full tool allowance (18.3(g)) and fares allowances (18.6(d)), and the same year percentage of the electrician's licence allowance, travel time allowance (18.6(c)) and industry allowance. Other special allowances (18.4, 18.5) and travel and expense allowances (18.6, 18.7) are paid as incurred, subject to 18.2(b). The weekly all-purpose rate (wage, full tool allowance, and the percentage of the licence and industry allowances) applies for overtime, all paid leave, leave loading, public holidays and termination.
