A person employed under the award by the same employer immediately before starting an adult apprenticeship, for at least 6 months full-time or 12 months part-time or regular casual, must not have their minimum wage reduced: for wage-fixing only, they keep the clause 16.2 rate of their previous classification. Otherwise, adult apprentices who started before 1 January 2014 are paid the year percentage of the grade 5 rate in the clause 16.4(b)(ii) table of the current award (consolidated to 1 July 2026, read 30 September 2026), with the full tool and fares allowances and that percentage of the travel time, licence and industry allowances. Those who started on or after 1 January 2014 are paid the rates in the clause 16.4(b)(v) table, with the full tool and fares allowances and 80% in year one and 87% in each later year of the travel time, licence and industry allowances. Other special, travel and expense allowances are paid as incurred. The weekly all-purpose rate is used for every award purpose.
