The employer must pay each employee the allowances they are entitled to (clause 18.1 as consolidated refers to clause 17.6(a), which appears to be a cross-reference error; the obligation is read as the clause 18 allowances). All-purpose allowances, which are those in clause 18.3, are included in the rate used to calculate penalties, loadings, overtime, every form of paid leave, public holidays and termination payments made pro rata. Special allowances do not accumulate: if two or more disabilities giving rise to a special allowance occur, only the highest applicable rate is payable. Special allowances are paid regardless of when the work is done and attract no penalty or premium additions.
