A prescribed mine's operator must ensure that ventilation circuits prevent air recirculating; structures regulating airflow are kept in working order; air is not carried through a series of work areas until it becomes unfit to breathe; dead-end openings are worked only with adequate auxiliary ventilation; and contaminated air is not used to ventilate underground workings. The operator must regularly monitor and test all aspects of the ventilation system to confirm it meets these requirements.
