Where a prescribed mine is accessed by a sunk shaft, a decline or an adit, its operator must, as far as reasonably practicable, provide a second way out of the workings besides the hoisting shaft or normal exit, and ensure that additional exit stays functional and is marked or signposted so it can be found readily during an incident.
