The operator of an MHF must set up and operate a safety management system that gives a comprehensive and integrated system for managing every risk control measure adopted under Part 5.2, and must use it as the main means of ensuring the facility operates safely. The system must be documented, written and set out so that its users can readily access and understand it, and must contain every matter listed in Schedule 15 (policy and objectives, organisation and personnel, operational controls, operator duties, management of change, principles and standards, performance monitoring and audit). Under r 373 the documented system must be kept ready for an inspector to examine on request.
