An employer must see that a register covering every hazardous substance supplied to its workplace exists and is kept current. It must hold a list of the substances' product identifiers and a copy of the SDS for each, and it must be readily accessible to any employee who could be exposed. A retailer or retail warehouse operator need not keep the register for substances in consumer packages meant for retail sale and not meant to be opened on its premises; it must still obtain SDSs (r 155) and must register any substance that is opened on site. Maximum fine: 100 penalty units (individual) or 500 (body corporate), for each duty.
