Each manufacturer or importing supplier of hazardous substances has to have a safety data sheet (SDS) ready, complying with r 145, before the substance first reaches any workplace. A manufacturer or importer that has already produced a compliant SDS for that substance under equivalent legislation need not prepare another (r 144(2)). Rule r 142 disapplies this duty for samples supplied only for hazard testing. The duty supports sections 29 and 30 of the Act.
