Where a plant hazard or a hazard in its systems of work has been identified under r 97, the employer must ensure that any employee likely to face the associated risk, and anyone supervising such employees, are trained and given information and instruction on: how hazards are identified and risks are controlled; the safety procedures for using that plant at the workplace; and, where personal protective equipment is part of the controls, how to use, fit, test and store it. For lifts, this does not extend to employees who simply ride in a lift; it covers only those who work on the lift.
