Where plant has two or more emergency stops fitted and is designed for two or more people to run or attend, the self-employed person or employer must ensure the stops are of a type that allows restart only after the activated device is manually reset and the start function is then manually activated. For any plant with an emergency stop, the self-employed person or employer must ensure the device is prominent, marked clearly and durably, and within immediate reach of every operator, that any associated handle, bar or push button is red, and that no electrical or electronic circuit malfunction can adversely affect it.
