A self-employed person or employer must ensure that no work, other than erecting or dismantling the scaffold, is done from a scaffold until the scaffold or the part being used is complete; that the scaffold is secure and able to support the work to be done on it; that once it becomes aware that the scaffold, or the structure supporting it, is unsafe, suitable repairs, alterations or additions are made before that part is used again; and that, as far as reasonably practicable, people who would not normally use the scaffold cannot get onto it while it is unattended.
