UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) Reg.19: Regulation 19: Automated marketing calls only with prior consent and caller identity shown

A person must not transmit, or instigate, recorded-matter direct marketing communications through an automated calling or communication system (one that dials a sequence of numbers automatically and plays sounds other than live speech) unless the called subscriber has previously notified the caller of consent to such communications from that caller on that line, and the caller either does not withhold its calling line identity or presents a number on which it can be contacted. A subscriber must not allow its line to be used in breach.
