Part 2 and the Second Schedule: unfair practices a supplier must not engage in – Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003

Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 S2-9-21: Price advantages, estimates and discount periods represented truthfully

What does S2-9-21 require?

It is an unfair practice to represent a price benefit or advantage that does not exist (paragraph 9), to charge substantially more than an estimate unless the consumer expressly agreed the higher price in advance (paragraph 10), to say a discount is for a stated period when it will continue substantially longer (paragraph 20), or to give a reason for a discount that is not the real one (paragraph 21). 'Was' prices, 'member' prices and time-limited offers need a genuine prior price or genuine end date behind them.
