Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003
Part 2 and the Second Schedule: unfair practices a supplier must not engage in – Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003

Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 4a: Nothing done, said or left unsaid that could reasonably mislead a consumer

What does 4a require?

A supplier commits an unfair practice by any act, statement or omission in connection with a consumer transaction where the likely result is that a consumer is deceived or misled. The test is objective: what a consumer might reasonably take from the conduct, not what the supplier intended. The duty covers marketing, the sales conversation, contract documents and after-sales dealings, because an unfair practice can occur before, during or after the transaction (section 5(1)).
