Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003
Part 2 and the Second Schedule: unfair practices a supplier must not engage in – Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003

Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 4c: No taking advantage of a consumer who cannot protect their own interests or understand the deal

What does 4c require?

A supplier must not exploit a consumer where the supplier is aware, or should reasonably be aware, that the consumer cannot look after their own interests, or cannot reasonably grasp what the transaction is, how it works, the language it is written in or what it will do to them. This protects elderly, cognitively impaired, linguistically disadvantaged or otherwise vulnerable consumers and reaches high-pressure selling of packages, prepayments and add-ons to them.
