Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003
Part 2 and the Second Schedule: unfair practices a supplier must not engage in – Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003

Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 S2-16-17: Advertorials disclosed as advertising, and no invented buyers or offers

What does S2-16-17 require?

A claim dressed up as objective content (an editorial piece, a documentary, a scientific report) whose main purpose is to sell goods or services must state that it is an advertisement or promotion (paragraph 16). A supplier must not claim that a named or particular buyer has made an offer for, or agreed to buy, goods or services at any price when that is untrue (paragraph 17). Paid influencer content, sponsored articles and testimonials fall under the first; fake 'sold' listings and fictitious bidders under the second.
