Saudi Arabia Occupational Safety and Health Management Regulation
Element 3 Planning and implementation: initial review, planning, objectives, prevention and risk control, change, emergency, procurement, contracting – Saudi Arabia Occupational Safety and Health Management Regulation

Saudi Arabia Occupational Safety and Health Management Regulation 3-3: OSH objectives: aligned with the policy and based on reviews, specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound, both proactive and reactive, lawful, documented, communicated to those concerned and reviewed about yearly

What does 3-3 require?

The facility sets OSH objectives consistent with its policy and founded on the initial review and later reviews. Each objective is specific (what is to be done and how its completion will be known, written simply), measurable, achievable with the available resources, relevant in purpose and impact, and time-bound. Objectives focus on continuously improving worker safety and health and reaching the best OSH performance, combining proactive measures (for example the number of training courses, toolbox talks and risk assessments to be delivered) and reactive measures (for example target rates of accidents, fatalities and environmental incidents). They are consistent with Saudi legislation and the facility's other commitments, documented, communicated to the members concerned, and reviewed periodically (yearly, for instance) and updated when necessary. Applies at the intermediate and highest levels (not required at the lowest level).
