An owner-builder permit is subject to conditions that the permittee: complies with the Act; carries out only the building work stated in the permit; engages only licensed contractors for building work done by others; does not personally carry out work that requires an occupational licence; does not personally carry out fire protection or mechanical services work worth more than the prescribed amount (or $1,100 if none is prescribed); and meets any other reasonable conditions stated in the permit. Breach allows suspension or cancellation (s 44G).
