NSW Home Building Act 1989 s32AA: s 32AA Owner-builders engage only licensed contractors

The holder of an owner-builder permit must not contract with anyone to do any of the residential building work for them unless that person holds a contractor licence for work of that kind. It is a defence to show everything reasonably required to prevent the contravention was done. Maximum penalty 200 penalty units. Work a contractor does for an owner-builder must be insured under s 92 (s 98(2)).
