Philippines Occupational Safety and Health Standards R1210: Rule 1210 Electrical safety: the Philippine Electrical Code adopted as the safety standard, no installation without plans approved by the Secretary and prepared by a licensed professional electrical engineer, no energisation until final inspection and a safety certificate or permit, periodic inspection, inspection fees and plan preparation requirements

What does R1210 require?

The Philippine Electrical Code is adopted and its standards are safety standards wherever they safeguard workers. No electrical installation is undertaken until plans signed and sealed by a licensed professional electrical engineer are approved by the Secretary or an authorised representative (small household-scale installations need only a sketch, material list and undertaking), no utility or person connects supply until the final inspection is done and the Regional Labor Office issues a safety certificate or permit, a certificate of final inspection is secured after construction, installations are inspected periodically under Rule 1212, fees follow Rule 1213 and plans are prepared under Rule 1214. Franchised generating plants, broadcasting installations and water transport conveyances under other agencies are excluded from design approval but may be inspected where they endanger workers.
