NSW Food Regulation 2025
Part 8: seafood safety scheme and the NSW Shellfish Program (sections 121 to 149, Schedule 7) – NSW Food Regulation 2025

NSW Food Regulation 2025 132: Use approved laboratories for seafood tests, notify failed results within 24 hours orally and 48 hours in writing, and have laboratories report shellfish, environment, wet storage and depuration results within 24 hours

What does 132 require?

Every section 131 analysis is done in a NATA or Food Authority approved laboratory for that test. The licensee reports failures against the Shellfish Industry Manual (for shellfish-program samples) or the Food Safety Schemes Manual or a notice standard (for others) orally as soon as practicable within 24 hours and in writing within 48 hours. The laboratory in charge lodges a written report of all shellfish, environment, wet storage and depuration water results, all local program environment samples, and any failed seafood sample, within 24 hours of finishing the analysis. Each limb 25 penalty units.
