NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 9.81-9.84: Fuel storage quantities and fuel quality management

Fire and pollution implications of diesel storage should be evaluated (HTM 05-02 and 05-03). The gravity-fed day tank should hold at most the larger of 750 L and 10 hours at full load, and each set should have on-site reserve fuel enough for 200 hours of full-load operation (pumped to decentralised sets). Diesel ages, faster with water, dirt and biodiesel content; where use is low, a fuel conditioning programme (testing, cleaning, polishing, stabilisation) can address contamination. Where fuel is not pumped, a filtered hand pump should be available; shared storage with oil-fired boilers should be sized for the worse of 200 hours' generator demand or 10 days' peak boiler demand.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 2 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • 5.5.3 5.5.3 Main fuel tank capacity
  • 8.3.7 8.3.7 Fuel quality testing

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
