Chapter 17: Maintenance and operational management – NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition)

NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 17.11-17.21: Response to failures: business continuity plans and 24/7 reporting

Measures should be in place to deal with a loss of service at any level, from national grid loss to a single socket, through business continuity plans (HBN 00-07). A framework for communicating and responding to failures should exist, and trained staff should investigate incidents and restore systems at the earliest opportunity. All staff should be able to raise failures immediately and get assurance that action is under way, for example through dedicated 24/7 phone numbers, and responders should understand patient and staff risks, the network and available resources.
