Operation and maintenance should follow the organisation's operational policies and HTM 06-02 and 06-03 safety procedures. The approach to maintenance should be settled and approved during design of a new build, extension or change of management responsibility, with a defined review period to capture lessons. There should be safe access and space around all plant. After maintenance the work should be inspected visually and the documentation signed off and recorded in the planned maintenance system.
