Chapter 11: Tertiary power supplies (batteries, UPS, inverters) – NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition)

NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 11.22-11.24: Switchgear tripping and closing batteries: 8 hours' autonomy and dual rectifiers

Tripping and closing battery units should suit the protection and control system, be sized with the switchgear maker for all switching and protection operations, include facilities to test charge, terminal voltage and condition, and be fully rated with overload capacity to carry the full burden for 8 hours. Dual rectifier and dual battery systems should be considered, dual rectifiers at minimum, with rectifier alarms relayed to the BMS.
