Level 1 equipment is inspected monthly and tested as the manufacturer recommends. Inspection covers clean and sound battery and charger equipment free of damaging conditions; electrolyte levels topped up where applicable; terminals and connectors cleaned and regreased and cell tops cleaned as needed; individual cell voltages and pilot-cell specific gravity checked and recorded where applicable; plate and sediment condition noted for flooded lead-acid cells in clear jars; lamps, meters and controls proven; and the load confirmed to be within the equipment rating.
