Chapter 8: Routine maintenance and operational testing – NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 110-2025 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems 8.4.2: 8.4.2 Monthly exercise loading and duration

Generator sets in service run at least monthly for 30 minutes or more, loaded either to keep the exhaust gas temperature the maker recommends or, at operating temperature, to 30 percent or more of the standby nameplate kW of the EPS. The owner sets date and time to suit operations, and any test load used must be replaced automatically by the emergency loads if the primary source fails during the test.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 3 controls across 2 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • 17.81-17.83 Monthly on-load generator test of at least one hour including changeover
  • 9.28-9.44 Generator operating mode chosen to allow on-load testing (island, short-term or long-term parallel)

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
