ISO 50001:2018 - Energy Management Systems 5.1: Leadership and commitment
Top management shall show leadership and commitment towards keeping energy performance improving and towards an effective EnMS by: making sure the scope and boundaries are set; making sure the energy policy is set, along with objectives and energy targets, and that they fit the strategic direction; building EnMS requirements into business processes; making sure action plans are approved and carried out; making sure resources are available; explaining why effective energy management, and conforming to the EnMS, matter; making sure the EnMS delivers what is intended; promoting continual improvement; making sure an energy management team is formed; directing and supporting people; supporting other management roles; making sure the EnPIs represent energy performance properly; and making sure processes exist to identify and deal with changes that affect energy performance and the EnMS.
